This spring I ran a series of mini sessions by St Mary’s Lighthouse, and honestly, it reminded me why I love what I do so much. There’s something about that fresh sea air, the sound of the waves, and the soft spring light that just makes everything feel a little more alive. Families came along just for a short 20 to 30 minute session, but in that time we created something really meaningful together.
What I always say is that these sessions are not about posing or trying to get “perfect” photos. It’s more about giving yourself permission to slow down for a moment. You walk, you hold hands, you cuddle your kids, you laugh, maybe the little ones run around and get sandy, and that’s exactly how it should be. The magic happens in between those moments, and that’s what I capture.
Spring mini sessions in Whitley Bay are such a lovely way to spend time as a family. It doesn’t feel like a formal photoshoot, it feels like a relaxed прогулка by the sea, just with someone there to document it beautifully. And at the end of it, you have a fresh set of images that truly reflect your family as you are right now. Real, warm, connected.
If you’ve been meaning to update your family photos but keep putting it off because life feels busy, this is honestly the easiest way to do it. Short, simple, no pressure, and actually enjoyable for everyone, especially the kids.
April is one of my favourite times to photograph. Everything is starting to bloom, the light is softer, the weather is getting warmer and more comfortable. Whether it’s by the coast, in the park, or even planning a session around the blossom in Alnwick, this season gives the most beautiful, natural backdrop.
If this sounds like something you’d love for your family, I’d be so happy to photograph you. I’m now opening a few more spring sessions, and you can book your spot through my website or simply message me to check availability. I keep these sessions limited so that every family gets my full attention.
It really is the simplest way to turn an ordinary day into something you’ll keep forever.
